You Don’t Have to Choose Between Business Growth and Being a Present Parent
Because missing moments with your family shouldn’t be the price of success.
What if you could be focused at work and fully present at home — without sacrificing either?
If you're tired of feeling like you're dropping the ball somewhere—this is how to stop splitting your energy and start showing up where it matters most.
Productivity isn’t the goal — being present is.
Being present isn’t about doing less — it’s about doing what matters, on purpose.
When you align your time with your values, you don’t have to trade growth for presence — you get both.
You’re everywhere, but never fully anywhere — and it’s starting to show.
You’re in a client meeting, but your mind drifts to your kid’s school project...
You’re at the dinner table, but you’re replaying a conversation with a client.
At night, you’re reading a bedtime story — and checking your social media between pages.
You keep telling yourself it’s just a season. But the guilt? It’s daily.
The pressure? Constant.
And no matter how hard you try, it always feels like something’s slipping through the cracks.
I used to live in hotel rooms
— until I decided to lead with presence, not pressure.
According to RescueTime, 68% of working parents say they don’t have enough time for their families — and more than half feel like they’re failing at both work and home.
As a professional speaker and in-person trainer, I would be traveling 30 to 40 times a year.
Most nights, I just sat alone in a hotel room. The glamorous life of a paid speaker.
I wasn’t even married yet, but I knew: this can’t be how I show up as a husband or a father.
The hardest part of being off-track isn’t the chaos — it’s stopping long enough to admit you’re off-track.
So I made that shift early. Before marriage, before kids. I started working backward from the life I wanted to live.
Not perfect. Not overnight. But intentionally, consistently, and with clarity.
Clarity creates alignment — and alignment creates space for what matters.
Most productivity systems treat every task as equal — but your life isn’t a checklist.
This methodology, Elsewhere to Here, works because it starts with who you want to be — not just what you need to get done. That’s the shift. And it changes everything.
This is not for you…
If you’re not ready to let go of “doing it all,” this probably isn’t for you.
This doesn’t work for people chasing hacks instead of habits…
It takes honesty. It takes intention. And it takes a willingness to trade busy for aligned.
Solves These Problems
Tired of always feeling behind — at work and at home? This is how you get back in control.
✔ You feel scattered, stretched thin, and constantly behind
✔ You’re present physically, but your mind is always somewhere else
✔ You keep choosing between being a good parent and a good professional
✔ You keep telling yourself, “It’s just a season,” but it never lets up
✔ You’re not being the person, partner, or parent you imagined
This approach helps you take back your time, your clarity, and your presence — so you can lead your business and your life with intention, not guilt.
Old Way vs. New Way
The Old Way:
– Say yes to everything, then try to “make it work”
– Work all day, think about work all night
– Be physically present but mentally scattered
– Hope things will calm down eventually
– Feel like you're constantly behind, everywhere
The New Way:
– Start with clarity, then set boundaries that reflect your values
– Focus deeply during work hours — and fully unplug after
– Be present on purpose, not just by proximity
– Design your days for rhythm, not reaction
– Lead yourself with intention, not pressure

From Elsewhere to Here: Get Present
Here are things you could start working on to be more present. Do them all, do one. Something is better than nothing. And if that something gets you closer to where and who you want to be, you’re winning.
1. Clarify Who You Want to Be
List your 3 roles that matter most right now.
(Example: Husband. Parent. Business Owner.)
Under each one, answer:
What does “being successful” in this role look and feel like to me — right now?
This becomes your personal filter. If something doesn’t serve one of these roles, it’s easier to say no — without guilt.
The challenge is we could have 30 different roles and 50 different responsibilities under each role. Clarify what roles and responsibilities are priorities at this moment.
2. Use the 3131 System to Stay Ahead of the Chaos
3-Year Vision → Direction: Where am I headed?
1-Year Aim → Chart the course: What matters most this year?
3-Month Trek → Quarterly quests: What’s the strategic focus?
1-Month Missions → Tactical targets: What needs to move now?
Weekly Wins → Immediate actions: What can I commit to this week?
Review your 3131 daily to keep your head and heart aligned.
3. Create No-Phone Zones
Choose 2–3 sacred spaces or moments in your life that stay phone-free:
Meals.
Mornings.
Bedtime.
Walks.
Playtime with the kids
A specific room or chair.
Use a pocket notebook if you need to capture thoughts — no pings, no scrolls, no guilt.
4. Set Anchors, Not Rigid Schedules
Create two simple anchors:
🌅 Morning: Begin without screens. Coffee. Reflect. Bible. Family.
🌇 Evening: A shutdown sweep. Close your laptop. Glance at tomorrow. Switch gears.
Anchors reset you and remind you of who you are before and after the noise.
5. Do a Weekly Presence Check-In
Every Sunday (or end of your week), ask:
Where was I most present?
Where did I feel disconnected?
What’s one small shift I can make next week?
Write it down. Don’t overthink it. Reflect. Realign.
I can’t be present because….
“I don’t have time.”
No — you don’t have a filter. Five minutes of clarity can save five hours of chaos.
“I’m bad at routines.”
This isn’t about routines. It’s about anchors. Miss a day? Reset. No shame.
“Things are too chaotic right now.”
That’s exactly when this matters most. Presence doesn’t wait. You begin in the middle of the mess.
From half-present to fully here
— this is what it feels like to come home to your life.
You stop apologizing for being distracted.
You’re no longer half-in at work, half-out at home.
You make decisions from alignment, not urgency.
You feel clear. Steady. Anchored.
You’re not chasing balance — you’re building presence.
Not trying to do it all — just doing what matters, on purpose.
The fog lifts. The guilt fades.
And you’re fully here — for the life you chose.
What’s Next?
You have two options.
1. You’ve got the actions. You know what matters.
Now it’s time to act.You can stay stuck in “someday” — or start building the life you actually want to be present for. Take action yourself.
2. If you’re ready for support that honors both your ambition and your family, I’m here.
